Fancy volunteering in your local community?
Eastmoor Community Project Ltd work withan enthusiastic and dedicated group of volunteers. Here are some examples of volunteer work that local people got involved in last year in the community centre.

GEM (Getting Eastmoor Moving)
GEM is a newly formed community group in the Eastmoor area. Aiming to provide social and cultural activities for families from the community in a relaxed friendly environment and to develop activity schemes for children and young people during the school holidays and after school hours.
Membership to the group is open to all residents of the local area who would like to help the group achieve the set aims.

Eastmoor Companions
Eastmoor Community Project and Age Concern are working in partnership to provide a "befriending scheme" service in the local area. Community befriending helps isolated older people to re-engage with the community. If you feel you would like to know more about how you can get involved with the new scheme please contact Maria Black (Community Befriending coordinator, Age Concern) on 07742437684 and she will call you back.

St Swithun's News
This newsletter is printed quarterly. It is very much a community centre resource and aims to inform local people about the courses, activities and events in the local area, and to publicise news that other community groups have to share. Volunteers were involved in producing information and the design of the newsletter last year.

Website updating
The aim of the website is to provide a space where local people can find out what activities are going on in their community.Volunteers are needed to update the information on the website so that the latest news and information is available for people to access.

Tea/Coffee bar
Before the community cafe was opened we offered a tea bar facility to centre users. This was run solely by volunteers and proved to be very successful. Although this tea bar service has changed, if someone would like to volunteer in the new community cafe, then new opportunities could be discussed for the future.

Childrens' events and activities
We aim to provide a programme of activities for children and young people during the school holidays. Volunteers have assisted with the various workshops and activities. These voluntary positions are often lots af fun and very rewarding.

If you think you would like to get involved in volunteering for the community activities that happen on Eastmoor then come in and let us know.
